What I've been working on in my (very small) amount of free time the past couple days:


It's half colored now, but all the hard parts are left. :|

All from a sketchbook that I recently filled and 'decommissioned'. (I rip out all the parts I want to keep and throw the rest away.)I've only recently adopted this policy with my sketchbooks, but the reason I did was because I was nearing the 15-20 zone of books devoted to sketch.

Apologies in advance for the quality of the images. I no longer have a scanner or a tablet, nor do I have a halfway decent digital camera. These are all taken by my camera phone.

I also did like, Celebi and a couple of other pokemon not seen here, but the image is really, really big and I tend to jump around so it's tough to like, fit all the stuff I do in a day together into a comprehensible screenshot that isn't gigantic.

Lots of distractions today - I got Lugia and Hu Oh sketched, as well as Raikou, and the beginnings of Entei.
Tomorrow's my day off so I hope to put in some more serious time with this.

I started doing some work on other parts of the canvas - here are the highlights. I also did the sketches for Articuno and Moltres, but they weren't all that fun. Tomorrow I'll be working in the legendaries from Gold & Silver - Raikou, Entei, Suicine, Hu-Oh, and my favourite, Lugia.

I really wish I had my scanner up, since I did a nice racy sketch of Cairne today. I could try to install it on this computer, but it was such a pain in the butt the first time.

Maybe I'll get a nice new scanner for my birthday next month. hint hint

I figured I'd do a day-by-day progress on this one, the goal is to do a poster sized image of all 500ish pokemon. :)

All of the pokemon are in new, original poses - I made a deliberate effort not to just copy the official artwork poses. Some of them I had way more fun with than others. (WTF tree-turtle?)

I'm trying to teach myself to loosen up, paint faster, rather than obsessively focus on tiny details. I think if I can block and rough better, I'll be able to tighten better in the long run. Anyway, here's Cairne, new for '07. I should have a full model sheet to post up sometime when I get it back from a friend.

Of course, after I finished, I found free desktop capturing software that wouldn't leave nasty watermarks all over my work. OH WELL LIVE AND LEARN. Next time I will be good.

Congoing has definately jumpstarted my creativity and ideas - not that I had stopped drawing, exactly, just that what I was producing was somewhat personal. I'm planning on doing a sticker set for Fruits Basket, and a lot of other anime mascots as well - Kirara, chocobos, kyuubi, kuro-neko, etc. If you have a design you'd like to see, drop me a line.
